We Made a Maze!

We read the big book "The Gardener's Maze". This inspired us to make our own maze. The tamariki learned directional words such as forward, backward, left turn, and right turn. We had fun helping each other get out of the maze.

Matariki Celebrations

Room 6 learned the steps in preparing pumpkin soup as part of our Matariki feast.

We all had a turn in cutting the pumpkin, putting the broth into the pot, and using a stick mixer to blend the soup. In the end, everyone had a cup of soup and we even shared them with Room 5. Room 5 shared with us their fairy bread. It was a fun experience for all of us.

We also learned that Hiwa-iterangi is the wishing star. We all made our wishes for our whanau and designed our stars to take home.

What an awesome Matariki celebration!

The Queen and Paddington Bear

Room 6 tamariki watched the video of Paddington Bear visiting the queen to celebrate her Jubilee. This is our response to the video we watched.

We sketched the Queen.

We built Buckingham Palace.

We had a mini tea party.

We also wrote about it. Here are some of our writing.

One day. Paddington Bear went to Buckingham Palace. He had a tea party with the queen.

If I will visit the queen, I will put my pink dress on and bring her love heart chocolates. I will also wear my tiara. My brother can go to the queen’s castle with me too.

If I will visit the queen, I will wear pink dress. I will give flowers to the queen. I will tell her about my baby brother, big brother and big sister.

Waiata Pipi and Kowhai Sports

The Kakapo hub (Rooms 4,5,6 and 7) had its first Waiata Pipi in the hall this year. We all enjoyed learning and singing songs.

We ended the week with Kowhai Sports. This is a time for the tamariki to explore and enjoy playing with sports equipment. We also practiced sharing and taking turns. We had a blast!
