The Harvest Festival

We put our pesto onto crackers and shared it at the Harvest Festival. We even shared a bowl with Room 9 so they could have it with their gnocchi. You can find their recipe on Room 9's blog.

Look at the yummy food our school made.

We listened to a beautiful karakia then we tasted lots of yummy foods with the whole school.

Making basil pesto

Our class made pesto from basil leaves. We put it in the blender and the leaves got chopped up small. We are making the pesto for the Harvest Festival.

This is the recipe we used:

Basil Pesto
Into a food processor place about 2 packed cups of basil leaves, 2 large cloves of garlic, peeled and sliced, ½ cup of good quality olive oil, ¼ cup parmesan cheese (optional) and salt and pepper to taste.
Puree until they form a smooth paste. Store in the fridge or freeze in small containers.

Visiting Marian School

We went to Marian School and we saw a balloon.

It was locked in a cage. Caleb

We saw a balloon basket and a truck was holding the balloon basket so it didn't fly away. T.T and Jayden

The balloon got bigger because the hot flame was filling it up with air. Molly

We saw the balloon being spread out. A man went inside it. Bella

Butterflies in our classroom

Yesterday we had two butterflies hatch in the morning before we got to school. We were able to help them to get outside. We watched them fly over the courts and into the cabbage tree.

This morning when we got to school we were able to watch and wait for another butterfly to hatch. It was so exciting watching the butterfly drying it's wings.
