Matariki

Matariki is a time to remember the people that we love who have passed on. Room 14 is going to make an appetizing feast. We are making vegetable soup and popcorn. My heart feels warm because we are all going to help each other.

How do you celebrate Matariki? This is how Room 14 is going to celebrate Matariki, we are going to have a feast of vegetable soup and popcorn.

Matariki is a time to remember in love for the people who have passed away.

Matariki is the brightest star of all and we put our wishes into the sky.

Room 14 is going to have a scrumptious feast of popcorn and vegetable soup that has celery, kumara, potatoes, carrots and onions. My heart feels warm like a pot of boiling water on the stove with vegetables.

We are going to decorate the room with Matariki stars.

Matariki is a special occasion. You can celebrate in many ways. I celebrate by eating delicious food. I eat dumplings and garlic bread. Sometimes my mum and Louie go outside to find the Matariki star. I wish I could fly up to sit next to the stars.

Matariki is a celebration of Maori New Year. Matariki makes our wishes come true. I wish that Grandma Sading is back forever, that she never died. I had many wishes like a million. My heart felt like I am one of the Matariki stars.

Matariki is a day for the people of Aotearoa. Maori New Year is a time to celebrate. Room 14 will make vegetable soup and popcorn. It’s going to be interesting. My heart feels like a ballerina.

Matariki has many memories about the seven stars in the sky. I wish for peace. Matariki is so interesting.

I went to my Nana and Pop’s house for Matariki dinner. On Friday, Room 14 is making vegetable soup and popcorn. Matariki is a celebration for Maori New Year and Matariki is only celebrated in Aotearoa. My heart feels like it’s cartwheeling.

Matariki is a special time for wishes. Matariki is a time for food and to remember Maui slowed the sun making the sun feel upset.

Room 14 is going to make soup and popcorn. We decorated our class by drawing and cutting out stars. The big kids also took some of the stars to decorate the hall for assembly. Do you like Matariki? My heart feels like I want to cook too. And that’s why New Zealand celebrates Matariki!

I make a wish to the Matariki star. My wish for Matariki is for all kids to go to school in a car. Did you know Matariki is one of the special days in New Zealand? Room 14 is going to make soup with carrots, potatoes, onion, and kumara. We are going to make popcorn too. My heart feels like popcorn.

Matariki is so special to us in New Zealand. My mum and dad, we do not have anything on Matariki because we don’t know about Matariki. So we just have a normal day. I thought we might have a Matariki celebration but we did not have any at my house.

I went to look out the window and saw the Matariki stars. The Matariki stars are about making a wish. We are going to make our favorite soup.
