The Ant and the Grasshoppers

Room 16 had a mini play in class entitled "The Ant and the Grasshoppers". The children enjoyed taking turns being the characters in the story and being the audience.  We also learned that we should work hard like the ant to be ready for 'winter'.

River Walk

As part of our learning about the Waikato River, rooms 14, 15 and 16 went for a river walk. The students did some sketching before heading back to school to share more about what they saw through their writing.

Mixing Colours with Spinners

Rooms 15 and 16 explored mixing colours with spinners. Each student chose two colours they would like to experiment on mixing, coloured them on round cardboards, stuck a short stick (with adult help). They were able to see the results of the colours and have a fun time spinning them.

Taakaro Time

Room 15 and Room 16 had their first 'Taakaro Time' together. The children were able to explore the different toys in both classes. It was a valuable time wherein the students are learning how to manage themselves, relate to others, participate and contribute as they collaborate and make their own rules for their games.

Beware of the Cat!

Room 16 enjoyed reading our shared book "Beware of the Cat". The class then had the idea of putting up a sign 'Beware of the cat'! with their own scary cats to display by our window.
