We are friends

We were playing in the Totara sandpit. We were digging up all the sand. We filled a big bucket to make a sandcastle.

We played tennis. The bats were from the PE shed. We hit the bat when the ball came.
Sometimes we missed the ball.

I was playing with the leaves and making a mountain.
I found some other people to play with after this.

We were watching the children playing on Putikitiki. We saw our buddies friends.

We were going down the big slide. It was lots of fun.
Someones shoe came off when we were on the slide.

Hine saw us climbing on the rope. It was really high at the top.

At school we play many games during our breaks.
What do you like doing at lunchtime and morning tea?

We have a disco this Thursday from 5.30-7pm

The cost is $3 or $5 for a family.
Tickets are on sale Wednesday and Thursday before and after school.

The theme is PJs. Hope to see you there!

Handwashing

The public health nurse came to teach us about handwashing.

We talked about why we wash our hands.
We pretended to wash our hands. Then we put some cream that was pretend germs on our hands. After that we washed our hands. The nurses could see how well we did.

We practiced blowing our noses too.

Matariki

We are celebrating Matariki. It is the Māori New Year. Matariki is a group of seven stars, you can see the stars for most of the year but they dissappear from the sky in late April. They appear again in winter. When the stars appear again, the new moon has risen, it is the beginning of the Māori New Year.

We talked about how we would celebrate Matariki in our class. We made headbands with stars. We made poi and we learned some new actions for our songs.

Tomorrow we are going to bring a vegetable from home to put in a soup. We will share our soup for lunch. We brainstormed different vegetables that we could bring.

We are learning to skip

We practice skipping with the rope...

We jump over a squiggly rope...

We jump over lines or play hopscotch to practice jumping and landing with two feet...

Putikitiki

We went to Putikitiki to sketch the cabbage trees and after we had finished we explored the putikitiki playground. There were lots of things we could do.

Twenty books

These children have read twenty books with Hine.

We think that is a lot of books.
